Emma de Clercq (b.1987) graduated from Chelsea College of Art & Design in 2009.

She lives and works in London as an artist and curator at The Library Space, a restored Edwardian library turned events space in Battersea.

Working primarily with wooden cast-offs and other fragmented materials, De Clercq’s playful objects reference a world of performance and ritual.

Blind Spot consists of fifteen painted circles, each layered and adorned with geometric patterns. Drawn together the panels form a larger image which is partially obstructed by the white space surrounding it.

Blind Spot references our ability to draw together fragmented visual clues and use them to ‘connect the dots’ and construct a whole.
